Aberbach

Aberbach cove in Pembrokeshire Coast National Park

about the property

One of the most popular holiday cottages in Wales, this cottage as an amazing location with direct access down through your own land to one of the most beautiful beaches in the UK. As nobody else can park near you’ll often have the place to yourself and feel that you have your own private beach.

Named by The Times in the Top 20 UK Beach Houses - Best of Britain 2014

Stay RIGHT by one the loveliest beaches in West Wales at Felin Hescwm.

Within the Pembrokshire National Park you are perfectly placed to explore a variety of walks from the door; along the coast path to secluded coves, caves and rock pools, with a chance to see Choughs, Peregrines and an amazing variety of sea birds who come to nest on the cliffs in the spring. You can walk up on to the Preseli hills behind, and on a clear day you can see to the Wicklow mountains, the Lleyn Peninsular and the Snowdonia mountains.

If you have your own Kayak (it is possible to store it at Felin Hescwm) you can launch directly from the beach and discover the many secret coves along the coastline - get up close and personal with dolphins and seals too!

You can enjoy breakfast or take a sundowner on the balcony and drink in the views of the sea - This place is a truly a hidden gem. More photos on our Facebook page here
* Note: In 2016 the water driven corn mill will be back in working order for demonstrations (by arrangement)

customer reviews for Aberbach

We had a lovely but too brief weekend at Felin Hescwm. The cottage is sensitively and tastefully converted, with everything that we needed for our break. The location is incredible with the stream and waterfall, and then only a couple of minutes walk to Aberbach beach. We had a lovely time walking the coastal path, playing Pooh sticks on the bridge on the beach and skimming stones. We definiately hope to go back soon! Five stars!

A beautiful cottage, in a lovely setting. We loved the slate staircase and the little windows with their tiny shutters - it has been fitted out with great attention to detail. Having breakfast on the little balcony was wonderful and it's great for astronomy as the sky is so dark here! Well situated for walking, which was just as well as we were reluctant to drive along the very narrow lane more than was absolutely necessary!

A truly magical place to stay - we loved it here. The short walk down to the beach is fantastic and we spent most of our days on the beach enjoying the sunshine with our two golden retrievers. The cottage and gardens are beautiful with wonderful detail and touches of luxury. John and Jo are very welcoming and helpful. We will be looking to book again!

This is a very special place, with a storybook setting: a waterfall by a mill, and a short path down to a quiet cove. Felin Hescwm Refuge is a great place to stay, and you are guaranteed to leave it feeling renewed,

This was with a big gap the best accommodation we ever had. We can truly recommend this cottage and the surroundings. The hosts, Jo and John, were very polite and helped us with a lot of good advice. Never before thought to go somewhere twice - this time we honestly consider.

Paradise in Pembrokeshire! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Felin Hescwm. Such peace and tranquility, surrounded by beautiful gardens and a beach 150 yards away. A very well appointed house with real character and charm. Our dog Lottie loved it too!

What a wonderful holiday. I was returning to Hescwm Mill having spent many happy holidays there in the 80's.The holiday more than delivered! The cottage is beautiful and luxurious with many lovely signs of attention to detail: well-stocked book-shelves and charity book swap, lovely wood burning stove, balcony with view to sea, waterfall in the garden, lovely wrought-iron and slate throughout house...and I could go on. Very best bits: wonderful beach and coastal paths, comfy deep sleeps with the sound of the waterfall through the open window.

Beautifully converted barn. Everything immaculate. Lovely owners. One small thing, we did not fully appreciate from your info that the garden does not quite join the barn ( being the other side of the footpath) and is also the owners garden, not so easy with dogs. We managed with no problem though. Had a lovely holiday. Thanks.

"Please use the visitor book as John & Jo may direct you, for the cottage and gardens of the historic mill at Hescwm are their creation. They combine the comforts of technology with the charms with rusticity; and you are the transmitters of this treasure to future friends." John Nandris 29 Aug 2013
