about the property

Sweet historic and romantic Pembrokeshire castle holiday cottage lodge, making the perfect base for exploring this amazing county. Access to the castle grounds after the gates close!

Magnolia Lodge is a romantic 'castellated' lodgehouse at Picton Castle in Pembrokeshire, the perfect getaway for all historians and wildlife buffs alike. It provides you with the freedom of the estate.

This little lodge differs from its sister lodge in that it has the benefit of an open fire and a lovely garden to relax in - why not rent both and bring your family or friends!

This little gem is the perfect retreat for couples, you will benefit from a temporary garden pass to the award winning gardens and a free guided tour of the castle. There are more than 40 acres of spectacular woodlands and gardens to roam or just simply sit and enjoy the bird song.

If you don't feel like cooking, just walk round to the Courtyard Cafe (it really is one of the best in the county), where you can arrange delicious home made dishes to take home with you.

When the public have all gone home, you will be able to roam freely around the peaceful acres of spendid woodland and indulge youself in the fantasy that you are a wealthy landowner of days gone by! The lodge is one of a pair on what was originally the main gates but which are not used by visitors to the castle (you'll likely find you're the only people using these gates). The building is set back from a quiet road (not a main road). Check out our Facebook album for more images.

customer reviews for Magnolia Lodge

Magnolia Lodge was perfect for a 4 day exploring holiday in Pembrokeshire with our two dogs. The cottage was clean and well equipped and the bathroom was wonderfully warm! We very much appreciated being able to walk the dogs in the lovely Picton Castle Grounds and the free entry to the castle tour, which was very interesting and well done. We had one very delicious lunch at Maria's cafe, and would have gone again if there had been time.

We really enjoyed our stay in this simple, comfortable cottage for 2. Good location with easy access to eg St David's and Tenby. Having free access to the beautiful grounds of Picton Castle, including out of hours, was a real bonus. Maria's courtyard restaurant in the ground was another bonus, to eat in and takeaway. Would love to go again. I'm sure the gardens would be wonderful whatever time of year the visit.

A jewel of a lodge in a wonderful setting. Well placed for visiting a wide range of interesting places if you are keen on castles, beaches and peaceful scenery.

Magnolia Lodge was cosy, quirky, and well-equipped. I particularly enjoyed sitting in the garden and listening to the bird song. In the evening we wandered up the winding drive towards the castle, tempted off the path to follow the 'Bluebell' and 'Peep In' walks. The walled garden in the castle grounds is absolutely magical. We had wonderful sunshine all weekend, which always helps. A lovely place to 'leave it all behind' and enjoy some peace.

We had a wonderful time at Magnolia lodge which was spotless and very comfortable and cosy. We took our 1 year old who slept in a travel cot and really enjoyed the large garden. The after hours access to Picton Castle grounds was a real privilege and we had fantastic food at the welcoming onsite 'Maria's' café. I'd highly recommend a break at Magnolia lodge.

One of the most enchanting places I have ever stayed (and I've stayed in quite a few), compact accommodation with the most a m a z i n g garden - the acreage that is Picton after it closes! will definitely be booking there again

A lovely peaceful cottage for a few days in glorious Pembrokeshire. It was a real delight to wander around the beautiful grounds of Picton Castle in the evening and pretend that I was the lady of the estate! The gardens are gorgeous. Altogether a great place to stay.

My husband, I and our dog Dee Dee had a beautiful new year away in East Lodge. Running through the grounds with the whole estate to ourselves was very special and the log burner was brilliant at keeping the wet cold winter weather out. If you are looking for peace, quiet and something a little different, this is a great choice

Warm & cosy cottage in a great location. Picton House gardens are beautiful and it was great to be able to walk in them at any time. Apart from good weather it would have been a great bonus to have a secure garden for the dogs. The gatehouse is well fenced on 3 sides but open to the main drive.

This is the perfect get away. The location is beautiful and Pembrokeshire beaches stunning. I'd recommend the tour of the castle and there is a lovely café. Being able to roam the grounds after everyone has gone home is pretty special. This was our second visit and we will return.

We have stayed at this lovely lodge several times, with our two dogs and baby. Though compact, it's quirky and comfortable. What really makes it delightful though, and the reason we've returned, is the access to Picton House gardens after they have closed to the public. The walled garden is stunning and sitting on the grass on a summer's evening, sipping a ginger beer, can't be beaten, plus we were lucky that the resident robin joined us each afternoon, much to the delight of my toddler son! The play area for children is also great, and the rest of the grounds are beautiful. We will be back!
