about the property

Architect’s own barn conversion holiday cottage in West Wales near wonderful beaches. Simple designer interior and green credentials. Great for holidays near Aberaeron.

Tŷ Twt is a delightful architect's own barn conversion near Cardigan Bay. It is in the hills above the delightful Aeron Valley, a short drive from a choice of good beaches (New Quay for dolphin boat trips, Cei Bach for sandy seclusion etc) and near to the jewel of the West Wales coast - Aberaeron. A former spiritual retreat, the farm is now restored and managed as an exemplar of sustainability, with wind turbine and ground-source heat pumps. See this guest blog to get an idea of what your holiday here might look like.

Tŷ Twt is a stylish for four, sensitively inserted into the rough stonework of a former storehouse. It is accessible for people with limited mobility. The carefully crafted timber interior is comfortable and imaginatively designed. The 'cegin fawr'(main room) is open to the exposed A-frame roof beams and has a woodburner for added cosiness. Stairs from here lead to the croglofft with double bed. There is also a small ground floor bedroom with double bed. The lavatory with wet room shower is an immaculate pod on the ground floor. The kitchen is well equipped and has sliding glazed doors opening onto to a pretty garden with sitting-out areas. Local natural materials – stone, oak, ash, douglas fir and lime are dominant. See the website and our photo album here.

The cottage was simply beautiful and the setting is idyllic. We enjoyed an amazing few days and did plenty of exploring around the local area. Owners are very helpful and welcoming.

Ty Twt is gorgeous, peaceful and beautifully designed with everything you need for a peaceful stay. We had a lovely welcome from Huw and Jude. Our holiday was a mixture of walking, cycling and then returning to Ty Twt for a lovely relaxing time. It's a real get away from it all place. Thank you.

Tŷ Twt is absolutely beautiful. The setting is very peaceful and the 'cottage' itself is immaculate. We met Hugh, the owner who was very friendly and helpful. We cannot recommend this highly enough and will definitely be returning.

We loved this wood lined cottage, its peace, we lay in bed and admired the detailing of the wooden roof. New Quay is 20 minutes drive and reminded us of St Ives. A perfect spot for 2!

Ty Twt and Wildernest in general is a beautifully well thought out and designed accommodation. We decided pretty quickly that we could live there forever and re-booked before departure. Attention to detail in all aspects of the interior makes for a joyful and relaxing space. The horses on the wetland are a special treat, as is all of the wildlife on the reserve. Holidays don't get a better start.

'What a triumph! A home from home with so many lovely touches, sublime location and glorious weather. It all combined to make a perfect relaxing stay, enhanced by excellent unobtrusive hosts and occasional much loved visits by well behaved Jimi. Thank you so much. Don’t miss a drink by the quayside at the Harbourmaster is a must.' C.N and D.P Hastings
