about the property

Priced with up to 8 staying, this family cottage is walkable from wonderful Llansteffan beach and castle.

Re-launched for Summer 2023! This charming Grade II listed townhouse is located in the heart of Llansteffan.

The beautiful coastal hamlet has managed to keep itself under the tourism radar for many years. As a result, those who are lucky enough to discover it keep the secret to themselves.

There is a huge expanse of clean sand for picnics, fun, and games not too far from the house. The village coffe shop is just a few doors along the road, and many rate the Fish & Chips takeaway on the front!

We all had a lovely stay in a very relaxing and peaceful location. Walks down to the sandy estuary and along the sea front were a highlight and the house was a lovely home from home, which is very nicely decorated. - Jack

We had a very fine week. The property is spacious and comfortable for 3 generations, and a small glitch with the heating was promptly, pleasantly and efficiently dealt with by the owner. 5***** week - Llansteffan is so much pleasanter than Laugharne ( a 1/2 hour walk along the coast path.....)

Amazing, cozy warm place with plenty of room. It's within 5-10 mins walk to Llansteffan Beach and Scotts Bay and beach. Well equipped and super relaxed location. Village shop virtually across the road that sells great produce, such as fresh sourdough bread, cakes and beers and also opens up Friday and Saturday evening and sells Pizza and beers. Had a lovely meal at Y Polyn, well worth the 30-40 mins drive. Locally "Inn at The Sticks", which is across the road from Gwel Y Don is great for food and a great atmosphere. The Castle Pub is next door to that and serves nice beer also. Gwel Y Don is ideally situated for trips to Laugharne, Saunderfoot, Tenby and Narberth. There's a lot do if you want to venture out, but also great if you just fancy walking the amazing beach and estuary and chilling out. Llansteffan Castle is 10 mins walk and great views from there down the estuary. We had some stunning sunrises and sunsets. Magical !!

What a lovely homely cottage in such a great position - so close to the wonderful beach, almost opposite the friendly village shop and it's delicious home-baked bread and a castle too ! We had a fabulous time. With three generations of family and a labrador, we found the house with it's several sitting and playing spaces and garden just ideal. The beach is just great - vast expanses of beautiful sand to dig and play on. Swimming was fun. Nearby Scott's beach provided wonderful damning possibilities with the little river. We ate some of the tastiest fish and chips by the beach. Two very different pubs just two minutes away. All in all a great place for a family holiday !

We have just had a wonderful week at Gwel y Don. The house is really lovely and is without doubt the best equipped house in terms of crockery, cutlery, glasses, pans etc which for a family who enjoy home cooking it was so perfect. The house is lovely and spacious and has been so thoughtfully furnished with an interesting mix of furniture and art work. It was a perfect house for our family including our 10 month old granddaughter who loved playing up on the mezzanine. Llansteffan is a great village with two pubs,a lovely village shop and fabulous walks from the front door. We would love to go again.

Sunny week in Wales. Lovely walks along the estuary at low tide.

Spacious, well-equipped house with plenty of nice places to sit and relax. Great location with good local amenities and the beautiful beach 5 mins walk away. Lots to see in the surrounding area. We enjoyed our stay very much.

We had a wonderful time here, a beautiful and very comfortable house..lots of space for everyone to be together and also be independent. Fantastic showers..3 lovely living rooms..and good beds and fluffy towels.. The village is very lovely too, 2 pubs, one traditional and straight forward, the other more gastro, so something for everyone. The village shop is fab,and friendly, with everything you would want..even bacon bottles and homemade pizza. And the beach is wonderful and quiet, at high tide you can swim in calm clear and warm waters... Such a lovely time..such a lovely place..

We absolutely loved Gwel Y Don. The village was very quiet but had two great pubs and a brilliant village shop with freshly baked bread daily and it's so near to a brilliant empty beach. A lot of the comments say they feel they've discovered a hidden gem and they're right!

This is a beautifully renovated house in a lovely little village. We loved being in the village, yet just by the sea, with the village shop and pub just a stone's throw away. The Dylan Thomas history is fascinating for literature lovers! We loved it!

We enjoyed our stay. The cottage is well equipped and comfortable to spend time in if the weather keeps you indoors. Parking outside the cottage can be a bit tight, because the road is narrow and as a result all vehicles have to park on one side of the road. Otherwise we had no problems.

We all had such a lovely time and it was a wonderful cottage to be enjoyed by an extended family group. With three children the supply of games along with beach kit meant there was always entertainment. I don't think the was anything missing at all. We hope to come back next summer. Thank you utt

Lovey house, well kept and clean. Plenty of space and a well fenced back garden too. Everything in working order. The shower was fabulously powerful! A pleasant short walk to those clean, sandy bays that were very quiet in June. The village shop is a little gem, maybe not so much the pubs... All in all I'd recommend this one.

Lovely relaxing week. Great location, a few yards from 2 pubs ! Both serve great food and you can take your 4 legged friend too. Very friendly locals that make you feel welcome. Would stay there again. Llansteffan beach a few minute walk away. Would very much recommend.

My friends and I had a really lovely stay in Gwel y Don. A comfortable, spacious and well-equipped place to hang out in after all of that walking and exploring in and around Llansteffan. Good drinks and food to be had In The Sticks (great Sunday Lunch) and an 'interesting' dining experience at Yr Hen Dafarn (again lovely food). Could easily have spent another week holed up in this wonderful place...and hope we will again soon. Oh, if you're 6 foot or over watch out for the low door frame leading to the bathroom....ooof! (twice!!)

We had a wonderful break away in Llansteffan. The house is lovely and far more spacious than we had expected. Also is so very close to the beach which was awesome. We are already thinking about booking again.

A lovely large holiday cottage in a very lovely village. Scott's Bay and the castle were amazing and the pub was lovely too.

Excellent property in a great location. Loved the easy access to the property with the key safe. Family friendly property. Great surprise to have a welcome bottle of wine. Proximity to the beach was good with the children. Plenty of walks from the front door. Village lovely, great food in the pub. Be aware the village shop is only open in the morning then it's a drive to the shops. Will definitely return.

We couldn't fault the property. It was really well equipped, comfortable, warm and spacious. Llansteffan is a wonderful place. The beach goes on for miles. Four nights wasn't enough. If you love the outdoors, nature and exploring then I think this area and property will suit you perfectly. We'll definitely be back.

We had a lovely week in Llansteffan. The house is very well appointed, with a well equipped kitchen and comfortable beds. The Castle is a welcoming local, a mere 14 seonds from the front door! And make sure that you book a table at Bill's for amazing food (28.5 seconds walk) We visited Laugharne, Carmarthen, Llandeilo, Pembrey Country Park, Ferryside, Narberth (lunch at Ultracomida was worth the drive on it's own), Saundersfoot..........
