Capel Tŷ Ddewi

about the property

5* Welsh holiday cottage home at St Davids in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, West Wales. This historic converted Pembrokeshire chapel has been turned into a stylish holiday home near Whitesands beach.

Capel Tŷ Ddewi is the oldest chapel in Pembrokeshire, founded in 1784, sitting just north along the coast from St Davids (1.5 miles to the centre, 2 miles to wonderful Whitesands beach). It is a simple, handsome vernacular building now converted into a luxury holiday home. The Chapel is located in a small rural hamlet, close to the historic city of St Davids with its restaurants, deli, clothing shops and magnificent cathedral. Just a mile to St Davids or two to Whitesands bay - among the finest beaches in Britain. In summer months a small shuttle minibus passes through the village that you can pick up to make the coastal walks easier - choosing, for example, to walk one way and the then minibus home.

The new owners have sympathetically used traditional and natural materials in their renovation, returning character to the building that had lost its historic interior decades ago. The views to the front and rear of the property have a coastal feel with amazing sunsets and views towards the sea and open countryside.  Located conveniently to many of the outstanding beaches that Pembrokeshire enjoys, this cottage is a joy with its beautiful surroundings, coastal walks, coasteering and activities, all within a short drive or walk.

Good venue for our holiday we enjoyed the Old Chapel and its facilities. It is a lovely conversion and really handy for excursions. The house is very well equipped (although a couple more pans would have been handy). thanks for your part in a relaxing holiday.

A lovely retreat in rural St David's. There are lots to do here including some of the best coastal views ever (Porthgain to Aberreiddy) and my five year old had a great time getting to know Boris the spider at the Sloop Inn at Porthgain. The cottage was fabulous and provided a comfortable base from which to explore Pembrokeshire...the beds are super!

This is a truly beautiful property which has been sympathetically renovated to a high standard. We felt immediately at home and found it both tranquil and relaxing. It's in a great, peaceful location very close to St Davids and within driving distance of some of the best beaches in Pembrokeshire like Marloes Sands and Barafundle. We'd highly recommend it.

I have stayed in this property a number of times, returning because we love it so much. It is a beautiful property, which has been renovated to an excellent standard and is a very special place. It is in a wonderful location, well located for both a number of fabulous beaches, walks and also close to the lovely town of St David's. The property is light, airy, well laid out and very clean, with high quality furnishings, bed linen and towels. The owners are very helpful and I would thoroughly recommend this property. It is one of my favourite places.

Wow... we loved this place! The cottage is a little piece of tranquillity set on the stunning Pembrokeshire Coast. On arrival we instantly switched off from the worries and stresses of everyday life - the whole place has a really calming influence on you by the way it's decorated and by the beautiful setting and surroundings. We enjoyed coastal walks and fresh air (as well as a few visits to one of the many lovely local pubs... 'The Sloop Inn' in Porthgain is a must)! With a 4 year old we were concerned that there wouldn't be much in the way of entertainment for him but we needn't have worried - trips to the beach, fish & chips on the sand and a impromptu swim in the Blue Lagoon were enough to put a smile on his face and with all the fresh air it was early nights for him and time for the adults to enjoy a bottle of wine on the outside deck area and watch the sunset... perfect! Just a mile or so from St David's, this very stylish Chapel conversion works extremely well, and is a great base to stay in a popular area. The Old Chapel is comfortable, cosy, and smart - well thought-out, with good facilities for cooking, dining, and chilling out (not sure about the cooker controls, but it all worked!). Great bedrooms and bathrooms, and a sunny patio at the rear. We were delighted to find this retreat and hope to return - highly recommended on all fronts! Simon - July 2014
