A freshly renovated Grade II listed house at the foot of Cader Idris mountain in Eryri / Snowdonia, on the Llanfihangel y Pennant Cader Idris Path. Glan Cader likely dates to the C15 (and the original huge crucks survive), but was modernised and a chimney was added around 1690. It enjoys a wonderful position at the head of a 'no through' road on the way up to Cader Idris - one of the most impressive mountain climbs in Eryri/ Snowdonia. The house has a large living/dining room on the ground floor, with a kitchen. Upstairs, there is a large principal bedroom, a smaller twin, and a small shower room. The house is semi-detached, and both belong to the same Welsh owners, Marilyn & Kevin. They use the house next door as their holiday home and are careful to give you privacy when they're resident. Walk from the house up Cader, along the flat valley floor to Castell-y-Bere, Craig yr Aderyn or just next door to the Mari Jones monument.

We enjoyed a peaceful long weekend at this lovely cottage. Thick stone walls, original features and cosy finishing touches make it feel atmospheric and homely. It’s in a quiet spot on a small farmstead by the river, perfectly placed for walking Cadair Idris and the stunning hills in the valley. A lovely cottage for a relaxing getaway in this beautiful part of the world.

A home from home! Thankyou Marilyn and Kevin for making us so welcome. From a lovely welcome tray of goodies to super comfy beds we found everything we needed. A great base for exploring or staying put. Our 13 year old loved the friendly horses down the road, the clear sky on a starry night and exploring Anglesey, Zip World and horse riding on the beach. Such a memorable visit. You won’t be disappointed.

What a beautiful cottage in a stunning location. Everything needed for a week to get away from it all...but the beach and towns close by too, so you can have the best of both worlds.

We spent a wonderful 3 nights at Glan Cader to get away from it all for a few days. It was the perfect base for exploring the stunning surroundings - views were incredible and the cottage was so gorgeous it looked like something from a fairy tale. Inside it was lovely, clean and cosy - I particularly loved curling up with a book next to the huge fireplace! Marilyn was on site in the cottage next door if we needed anything and she was lovely and welcoming. We were also lucky enough to meet Smokey, the local farm cat! We would definitely stay at Glan Cader again - the perfect spot for peace and tranquility when you need a few days' R&R

We had a wonderful stay at Glan Cader cottage! The cottage is in a truly spectacular spot and area, with fantastic walks straight out the door and many things to see and do a short drive away. The cottage was beautiful and we had everything we needed, it was comfortable and perfect! A big thank you to Marilyn and Kevin, the owners of the cottage for such a warm friendly welcome, and for being so helpful during our stay. We would love to return again!

A lovingly restored, cosy Cottage in a very beautiful valley with both easy and challenging walks on the doorstep. The Cottage is very well equipped and clean. We had a memorable week here and would recommend it to anyone. It was a pleasure to meet the owners on our last day.

Wonderful location at the head of the valley with your own near private castle and route up Cader Idris on your doorstep. Beautifully restored but with modern touches. Under the Thatch description and instructions spot on as usual and Kevin and Marilyn were great neighbours on hand for anything else - Jeremy C, 2026

What a magical place to stay. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this cosy cottage. It was well kitted out, full of character and in a glorious location. So nice to listen to the stream and lambs, watch the light over the mountains and fields, and lap up nature in all its splendour. We hope to return! Thanks to Marilyn and Kevin for a warm welcome - diolch a hwyl am y tro!

This is a beautiful cottage in a stunning and peaceful location. It has been carefully renovated by Kevin and Marilyn who are wonderful hosts. If you are looking for a peaceful break with access to fabulous walking, this is the spot for you. It's right on the track for the ascent to Cadair Idris, plenty of other walking options too. We had a great week and it's a perfect location for dogs too!

Oh WOW we really enjoyed staying at Glan Cader. It is a super super cute cottage of some considerable age yet has some very nice modern touches. The owners, Marilyn and Kevin, are a delightful couple who have a mine of local information that you can tap into on some lovely chats. If you do have any problems they are very helpful and will sort things out in a jiffy. Overall a gem of a place and highly recommended.

My partner and I had a wonderful 4 weeks at Kevin & Marilyn's Cader cottage. It's a beautiful cottage, which feels it has a real heart. Felt very much at home. We also spent lots of time sitting outside in the garden amongst the flowers while reading or eating. Being surrounded by the hills and the nature, and being able to step direclty into it, while being comfy and cosy in the house was exactly what we wanted. Also lots of history in the area. We thought it was really well located, and would hope to return. Our hosts were very thoughtful and went above and beyond to help us out while during our stay. Again, thanks so much Kevin & Marilyn. We loved our stay. Diolch!

We had a fantastic stay at Glan Cader! The cottage was much more spacious than we expected—far bigger than it appears in the photos. The decor is beautifully done, with lovely touches of Welsh textiles throughout. The underfloor heating was a real treat, especially for our dog who absolutely loved it. Marilyn and Kevin were wonderful hosts—very attentive and welcoming. We’ll definitely be returning!

Wow. What an absolutely stunning cottage in an amazing area of Wales. There is attention to detail in this cottage that is beyond anything I have seen in a holiday cottage before! I’ve been to some fabulous ones but this is beyond that. And so beautiful - inside and out. We also had the luck to be there while the owners Marilyn and Kevin were there and they absolutely made us feel at home and were so helpful with their local knowledge and kindness. I cannot recommend this cottage enough. Thank you

What a delight! This was the perfect half term break for our little family. The cottage’s idyllic rural location is only ever a half hour drive from endless activity. We will be back!

The cottage at Glan Cader was perfect in every way. We arrived just before Storm Darragh hit and the thick walls were the perfect snug retreat to hunker down while the storm raged outside. It was warm with the underfloor heating and log burner. The cottage has been sensitively renovated preserving the old features and it is beautifully equipped. We particularly enjoyed the selection of books on local history and the Welsh language. Marilyn & Kevin were so helpful and very accommodating making us feel most welcome. The setting is perfect and our only disappointment was that the weather was too wild to climb Cader Idris so we are already planning our return visit to do that.

This lovingly restored, historic little cottage, at the end of a hidden valley at the foot of Cader Idris, kept us cosy and warm while Storm Bert raged outside. There are many beautiful touches in the cottage, the beds are very comfortable, and the heated slate floor is wonderful. The bathroom, though small, was fine for two of us. The local area is interesting as well as beautiful, with a friendly pub, The Railway Inn, a 10-minute drive away (but no shops nearby - come well stocked with what you need). Marilyn and Kevin couldn't have been kinder, more welcoming hosts. We'd love to come back with better weather and explore more, including the walk up to Cader Idris from the front door.

This lovely cottage is so cosy and homely, set in the most beautiful, peaceful location. Walks from the door and a short drive to the most amazing beaches and quirky towns. The local pub is a 5 minute drive away but very friendly, and although we only had a drink, the menu looked really good. Feeling really rested after our week stay here, one of the best holidays we have ever had, can highly recommend. Thank you so much

Beautiful well equipped cottage in the middle of nature at a farm. Perfect to find peace and relax. Walks literally start in front of the house. After the walks it was great to enjoy the comfort of the house and a well deserved bed rest.
