Everyone agrees - Bwthyn Trehilyn is simply one of the finest holiday cottages in all of Wales, and you'd have to look very very hard to find a better cottage for your holiday in Pembrokeshire. This cottage is consistently in (or at the top of) our 'Top 3' most booked cottage lists. Under 10 minutes from Abermawr beach, or walkable from the dolphin lookout and lighthouse on Strumble Head. Meticulously renovated by BBC's Griff Rhys Jones from a ruin using authentic restoration materials and skills, this is a traditional, detached Pembrokeshire farmhouse in a peaceful location at the end of a track, with seventy acres of farmland that enjoy fine sea views. Walk to the famous lighthouse on Ynys Meicl or hike out to Porthsychan cove. The restoration of this cottage was the subject of the BBC TV series “Return to a Pembrokeshire Farm”. Kids will enjoy the slide and swing set or trying to spot dolphins and whales from the lookout over the hill.  Sustainability was behind every decision in this restoration, and there are two EV chargers for electric vehicle drivers available.  Fly fishing for rainbow trout in two ponds available on site. Catch & release, arrange with estate manager after booking.

What a magical spot that surpassed our expectations. The cottage is stunning inside & out, the brook in front of the house a big hit with our dogs, as well as the lovely forest walk. So many beaches close by and only a half hour drive to St David’s or Newport. We felt it a privilege to stay at Bwythin Trehilyn, and are especially happy to see these Welsh heritage dwellings restored. Thank you for a wonderful holiday.

Cottage was great, decorated really well, equipped well, location great, really clean. Only comment and it’s subjective is that the mattress in the downstairs bedroom is incredibly hard. I have disintegrating discs in my back and I had to get up at 5am most morning as it was too hard and uncomfortable, but that’s just a preference thing. 9/10

Had a brilliant week at Bwthyn Trehilyn. Loved the quiet seclusion and countryside views. The stream and nature walks were a delight, and we are already missing our daily morning run up Garn Fawr for those immense coastal views from the top. Everything was perfect. Loved watching the DVD of Griff Rhys Jones' renovations of the farm and cottage too, it brought the story to life and we felt like we became a small part of its history for a brief week. What a privilege! Thank you.

A great experience - lovely place to stay. We sta yes with our dog and found it had everything we needed. Lots of places to visit within a short drive. A house with an interesting history. Will use Under the Thatch again.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the cottage - it was Feb so weather was changeable and it was great to come back to a toasty warm place with underfloor heating after a good walk along the stunning coastline. A beautiful location and a homely relaxed place to stay

A rustic, charming cottage in a beautiful rural location. Warm in winter with underfloor heating and a cosy log burner. The accommodation is well thought out, and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Thank you.

We had a lovely peaceful week at Bwthyn Trehilyn, the cottage had everything you needed. The surrounding area is very pleasant and great to explore, thankfully we had dry weather all week which was a blessing and the cottage so was cosy and warm. We plan to return and hopefully stay in the old mill house, especially after seeing it's renovation on the Pembrokeshire farm video. A wonderful week worth every penny. Sandra, Dave & the dogs

Absolutely idyllic. What a fabulous place in a gorgeous location,it was so peaceful, warm and cosy we loved it. We were super fortunate to have lovely sunny weather so could sit out (wrapped up)and listen to the river watching the sun go down a the sky become a riot of colour. Perfect.

Pretty warm cottage in a quiet remote location. Ideal for a relaxing break and close to beautiful coastal path for long walks and watching the wildlife. Cottage could do with a little updating on beds particularly and perhaps some food storage space especially if full with 6 people. Plenty of kitchen equipment! Many thanks for a lovely stay.

Had a wonderful stay in Bwthyn Trehilyn which exceeded our expectations- the underfloor heating and green technology is really incredible and the cottage was extremely snug and clean. We enjoyed watching the dvd of the renovation project which was what caused my sister to start booking utt cottages 17 years ago. We both now recommend you to all and sundry. Really minor points: you could do with scissors, cling film or some sort of airtight container. Otherwise 10/10

Another wonderful stay in this beautiful cottage surrounded by stunning scenery and peace and quiet. We can’t wait to come back.
