We're delighted to be asked to represent this beautifully renovated schoolhouse in the Howgill Fells in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. It sits on the edge of the rolling green fields of the dales and the wild mountainous lands that carry into the adjacent Lake District National Park - the perfect location for a family or walking break in the North of England. The house has been carefully updated and extended by a local family who care about sustainability and design as well as our usual imperatives like lime, natural pigments and quality bedding. Expect panoramic views, very easy access to nearby Sedbergh (a charming 'book town') and three good bedrooms. Throughout the house, you'll notice the touch of the owners who work as architectural historians and green oak-framers. The schoolhouse itself was built as late as 1877 (and converted to a holiday home after WWII), and provides a cosy and comfortable base for your Northern adventure. You've even got a few acres and woodland for the kids to romp in.

A lovely cottage in a beautiful part of the country. Everything was perfect and so many interesting personal additions from the owners. Our dog loved it too. Highly recommend

We loved our stay at The School House. The owners Mary and Jonny have lovingly restored and preserved so much of the original school house. We loved the entrance where the children would have hung their coats and bags. As we entered the living room we read one of the lovely notes that pointed out some of the original school desks with marks children had made were turned into window sills by Jonny. It was such a lovely touch to read the notes as you walked around the house. The views from every window in the house are amazing. The lovely big kitchen was equipped with everything you could possibly need for your stay, including different teas and even coffee beans. The garden is lovely and our dog loved having a walk around the little woods at the end of the garden. There was even a little note with treats, blankets and towels for dogs too. We highly recommend a stay at the School house and we hope to return in the future.

Wonderful holiday in a beautifully appointed house in stunning scenery. The accommodation was extremely comfortable particularly the living spaces. Wonderful mix of new and old with lots of thoughtful touches. Amazing location at the foot of the fells with a huge variety of walks plus lovely spots to visit such as the delightful Kirkby Lonsdale. Sedbergh has 2 great pubs both of which serve excellent food. 10/10

The cottage is absolutely stunning. In a beautiful, peaceful location, it has been decorated and furnished to an extremely high standard. The hosts were very helpful and quick to answer our queries. We didn’t want to leave and hope we can come back again in future. 10/10, highly recommended.
