about the property

Priced for 3 (sleeps 3). A 1920s 'Showmans' living van beautifully restored by Griff Rhys Jones and available for glamping holidays on Strumble Head, Pembrokeshire, Wales.

NEW for Summer 2023 - A 'Showmans' living van restored by Griff Rhys Jones and family as a self-catering unit within a beautiful timber-frame shed on the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park footpath.

These were the rather fancy homes that circus masters pulled around the country as their portable residences - always with windows on just one side, as they'd be parked against the big top. We think this early example was likely made by Brayshaws (the best regarded of the waggon-builders) in the early 1920s, with a refit in the 1940s.

The waggon sits year-round in a large shed, with huge glazed doors looking out to a private patio. Inside the waggon you'll find a compact, but surprisingly fancy seating area with kitchenette, with a small bathroom off, and a bedroom at the North end of the vehicle. The seating in the main room converts to a second bed.

Down the steps in the shed you've a lounge area and a shower cubicle. Parking and access to around 75 acres of land with ponds, children's play area and nature walks. Just 9 minutes to wonderful Abermawr beach.

The waggon is great for two, and can sleep three, but we don't recommend it for more than two adults. The second bed is formed from the main seating area like in a caravan.

Fly fishing for rainbow trout in two ponds available on site. Catch & release, arrange with estate manager after booking.

We really enjoyed staying in the showman’s wagon! It was really cosy, and well equipped for a week’s stay! The big space in the barn was amazing for acoustics, we played our favourite CD s while using the walk in shower! We loved it all!

An exciting place to stay for 3 days of adventuring on the wonderful Pembrokeshire Coast. The Wagen was a pretty cool place to stay, and we enjoyed chilling on the sofa in the barn, and the extra space that gave us. It was very well equipped throughout, beautifully clean with lovely crisp white sheets and big fluffy towels.

A curiosity – it’s a hip but cramped and impractical holiday ‘bachelor pad’ for someone of modest size. Enjoyed the area and visits!

Y Wagon is unique and quirky accommodation. The shed provides space and shelter, while the wagon is a cozy nest to settle into after a long day of exploring. As their first guest, Anthony and Shirley went out of their way to ensure that everything was perfect for my stay.
