about the property

A detached family farmhouse near Machynlleth, mid Wales. Priced for x2 (sleeps 6 in 3 bedrooms)

We're delighted to welcome back Cae Llwyd to the books - we let the house intermittently when the Welsh designer couple who own it are working and lecturing abroad.  It's been a few years since we last had any availability, and we're glad to have window of opportunity again now into 2025.

This secluded farmhouse is beautifully done, with a genuine sense of comfort and luxury. It enjoys an enviable private location with beautiful views to every side. Just ten minutes from Machynlleth town for art and antiques, where you can cross the bridge into the Eryri (Snowdonia) National Park, or half an hour to super beaches. Red Kites often seen on the land, or not far to RSPB Ynys Hir.

customer reviews for Cae Llwyd

Cae Llwyd is an incredible place, although even with the GPS we almost didn't find it. Thank heavens it wasn't raining or night. A local farmer kindly corrected our misdirected selves. Once there we did nothing but exclaim at our good fortune. The house is decorated with beautiful art and all the furnishings are very comfortable. All the bathrooms and bedrooms are fantastic. There were four of us; our fifth wasn't able to make it. But we could easily have had two or more other guests. The location couldn't be more beautiful. The kitchen/great room and patio were a delight in May but we could imagine being there when it was colder and using the fire place. Our only complaint would be that the bath towels could be more luxurious, less "rough" and bigger. It was lovely being in surrounded by such beauty, and yet within easy driving distance of day trips in this part of Wales. We aren't big hikers etc but are sure it would be a fantastic location for walkers and other outdoorsy types. 5 stars!

What a wonderful location and farmhouse. Beautiful views from every window and gorgeous artwork on the walls. Couldn’t have asked for a more comfortable, cozy and relaxing place to enjoy our holiday!

What a wonderful house in an amazing position. We have valued the peace and quiet, especially with the fine weather. We even ate our fish and chips at the table in the garden last night. The house is so easy to stay in and very comfortable. We actually lived in the kitchen although I imagine in winter the sitting rooms will come into their own. It is true, every window has a view and there are only beautiful views.

A beautiful cottage in a stunning location. We absolutely had a ball. It was perfect - gorgeous farmhouse decor and wonderful artwork and quirky touches throughout the house! A fabulous kitchen with woodburner which was perfect for our games night! The dogs loved it and it was home from home with the grounds to play on and to throw sticks! Kindling heaven! We went cycling and needed more time to explore as there is plenty to do in the area. This birthday treat couldn't have suited us better. Diolch Cae Llwyd! We'd love to come back. We had a lovely stay at Cae Llwyd. The house was very well maintained, and tastefully appointed. Fantastic views over the surrounding countryside. My only disappointment is our stay was too short!

Beautiful house and fantastic setting, four of us stayed for a long weekend and loved it. The house is well proportioned, very well maintained and excellent facilities. The kitchen diner was the hub and the wood burner made it our favourite part of the house, it is one of the best UTT cottages we've booked and we'd highly recommend.

We had a wonderful time at Cae Llwyd, it's a beautiful house in one of the best locations we've ever stayed in; rolling green hills and fluffy sheep as far as the eye can see. All that and snowdrops too. We had some lovely walks, all the better for coming home to a cosy but spacious farmhouse, generously equipped with all we needed to kick back for a relaxing week. The kids were delighted with their lot too. Good times.

Lovely cottage, very spacious, well equipped. Would highly recommend for a quiet break or to use as a base to explore surrounding areas.

A lovely farmhouse in an amazing setting which I have visited a number of times now. Always imaculately clean, comfy beds and a huge kitchen perfect for family gatherings.

This was our 7th stay at Cae Llywd. We loved it as much as ever. The house is spacious, and very comfortable with lovely pictures. The setting is beautiful, with wonderful views over the hills, sheep in the fields and a perfect spot to watch the sun go down, or watch the local birds. We enjoy walking and are spoilt for choice. The beach at Aberdovey closeby is another treat. All in all a brilliant place for a holiday. We've already booked our next stay!

We arrived on a very wet and windy evening ,opened the door...and bliss, the heating was on! How lovely Cae Llwyd was ,with delightful artwork in every room and soothing colour schemes ,it was a beautiful place in which to spend our few days. The surrounding countryside is great for walks and mountain biking, and nearby Machynlleth with its independent shops( and contemporary galley) is lovely to while away a few hours.

A very comfortable house in an excellent location, internet and tv (not always available in mid Wales) make it suitable for all weathers and longer stays. It would be ideal for large families or two families, having plenty of space, bathrooms, chairs, crockery etc. - actually could accommodate 8 or 9 - though two of us didn't get lost in it.
